Imlil to the Toubkal refuges
We leave Imlil after breakfast and follow the Mizane valley past Aroumd, then the shrine at Sidi Chamharouch. The path climbs steadily all afternoon with the west face of Toubkal ahead of you the whole way. We reach the refuges in time to rest, eat early and get used to the altitude before the alarm goes off.

Summit day and return to Imlil
A pre-dawn start up the south cirque. The ground is loose scree and boulder for three hours, then the ridge opens and the summit tripod appears. On a clear morning you see the Anti-Atlas, the Sahara haze and the whole Ouanoukrim massif. We come down the same way, collect our bags at the refuge and continue to Imlil.
