Ouanoukrim — Timesguida and Ras, three days

The second-highest massif in North Africa and the best summit day in the park. Timesguida (4,089 m) and Ras Ouanoukrim (4,083 m) are linked by a short rocky ridge, so you take two 4,000 m peaks in one morning — with Toubkal filling the whole eastern skyline.

Day by day

  1. Day 1 5–6 h 3 207 m

    Imlil to the refuge

The standard Mizane approach. We talk through tomorrow's ridge over dinner and set the alarm early — Ouanoukrim is a longer day than Toubkal and the afternoon build-up on that ridge is not somewhere to be caught.

  2. Day 2 10–11 h 4 089 m

    Timesguida and Ras Ouanoukrim

West up the Ouanoukrim cirque to the Tizi n'Ouagane, then the scree slopes to Timesguida. The connecting ridge to Ras is straightforward scrambling on good rock with real exposure on the north side — we move together, short-roped where it makes sense. Long descent back to the refuge.

  3. Day 3 4–5 h 1 740 m

    Refuge to Imlil

An unhurried walk out down the Mizane, back in Imlil for a late lunch.
